Super 8 was built before the GA 400 guidelines were adopted. As a result, this business has incorrect light fixtures installed. The light from this hotel is not as bad as it could be if all lights are turned on.
This photograph shows the location of some of the offending light fixtures (red) and the correct type of light fixtures (blue).
This photograph shows the Super 8 at night.
This is a closeup of ome of the offending lights. This is installed as a BAD light. If it was installed correctly, ie. pointing down 90 degrees, it would be a good light. The good news is that this light is not turned on all of the time.
This photograph shows B in the first photograph. This fixture is known as a cutoff fixture versus a full-cutoff fixture. A full-cutoff fixture does not allow the light source or the lens to be visible when viewed from the side. This fixture has a "sag lens" which is visible from the side which makes it just a cutoff fixture. Full-cutoff fixtures are much better because they put all light down on the ground.. Since the lights are pointing directly down, there is no glare produced.
