Palm Harbor Homes has the distinction of being the business that launched this light pollution campaign. Anyone who has driven south on GA 400 and passed Palm Harbor has been assaulted by their horrible lighting. Palm Harbor Homes purchased an existing business and proceeded to modify the lighting. Technically, this is a new business and should have been subject to the guidelines, however, their stance is that the lighting existed before they purchased it and the lighting is grandfathered in. Many complaints of the bright light have prompted the business to turn off some of the lights. Still the most dangerous light that shines directly into the eyes of oncoming motorists. None of the fixtures are full cutoff and the whole site is incredibly bright. Please ask Palm Harbor to turn off the lights or give residents sunglasses so they can drive past. They can be contacted at www.palmharbor.com
Because Palm Harbors lighting is spread out, we are just giving a picture of the sign.
This is an example of the fixtures Palm Harbor has spread all over the property. We estimate these at about 750 watts. They are so incredibly bright, the sky glow over this one business rivals the Kangaroo station.
This is the nighttime view of Palm Harbor has you drive south on GA 400. The bright white spot on this photograph awaits all who drive past. This is incredibly dangerous. If anyone pulls out of their parking lot at night and this light has drivers blinded, a terrible accident is waiting to happen.
