el Jinete is a new addition to Dawson County, having only opened in the past 12 months. There are 4 parking lot poles that hold 2 fixtures each. Since the lights are not pointing 90 degrees down, each fixture produces an astonishing amount of glare. Lighting is not reduced during closed hours. The only redeeming item is that there are only 4 poles. Also, the eaves have recessed fixtures which facilitate lighting the building exterior. The fixture are recessed so there is no glare produced.
This photograph shows the location of some of the offending light fixtures (red). There are an additional 2 poles at the other end of the parking lot.
This is el Jinnete in the evening. Notice the source of the blinding lights (A). Remember that there are another 2 of these poles at the back of the lot. This picture also verifies that the recessed eaves lighting is not producing any glare.
Here is a close-up of the offending fixtures. Remember the rule.... point the lights 90 degrees down!!!
