Autozone has a very mild light pollution problem. The property has several incorrect light fixture mounted to the building. These fixtures create glare for anyone entering the parking lot. The good news is that the parking lot is not overly bright and that Autozone shuts off all of their exterior lighting whenever the business is closed. Because of this, Autozone gets a decent Lighting Grade and can be considered a "Good Neighbor".
This photograph shows the location of some of the light fixtures. Bad light fixtures are indicated in RED and the proper light fixtures are indicated in BLUE.
This is what Autozone looks like in the evening. Notice the A light fixtures. These wallpack fixtures produce alot of glare. Also notice the parking lot lights to the left (B). This is a good light fixture, but since this picture was taken from the parking lot level, we are seeing the underside of the light.
This is a close-up of fixture B. These are GOOD light fixtures. Notice that when you look at this fixture from the side, no part of the illumination source (light or lens) are visible. All of the light is directed down and not off to the side creating glare.
This is the A fixture in the first photograph. These are BAD light fixtures. This type of wallpack lighting is a source of light pollution in the county. Notice how the light source is visible when viewed from the side. A properly shielded fixture does not allow the light source or the lens to be visible when viewed from a horizontal position. Proper shielding directs all of the light downward where it is needed.
